Hi Vik,

Thank you for your comment, I’m happy that you liked the article.

Concerning your note about people in the US who talk bad about India, it would be actually interesting to hear what kind of things are most often mentioned.

For me, India was certainly a country of extremes - there were things I didn’t like (cheating in touristic places, shady jewerly business in Jaipur, huge gap between rich and poor) and things I loved (welcoming people, coexistence of different religions, amazing festivals). Overall, the positives won over the negatives.

There are also some aspects to the Indian culture which would be hard for me if I’d be personally affected. Joint families and arranged marriages are good examples of customs which don’t fit well with a western individualistic lifestyle. However, I don’t want to label them as wrong or bad. It’s a different way for the society to work and I’m not knowledgeable enough to start judging it.

Arto

P.S. Vik, I also tried to write you privately, but the email address you provided didn’t work. Please contact me again if you read this.

ONE HUMUNGUS VAPPUPALLO FROM HELSINKI should be in Thailand in few days…when you see a fat, pink and stupid looking object, 25 meters above you - just jump and catch it.

ENJOY WORLD MY FRIEND - ENJOY!

I’ll send you some mail in 2 weeks…
