HC-Party in Kiljava on Saturday 27.5.2006

Lake at the party
siteSaturday evening we'll have a HC-party in Kiljava, about 50 km from Helsinki. For those who have paid the dinner fee (10 €) we'll provide food and at least one drink, but you can bring your own food too. There will be also live music, dance show and other performances - you'll have your chance to be on the stage too! :)

Vähä-Kiljava is a summer cottage area with a clear lake and two traditional Finnish saunas. It's a part of Salpausselkä which is a historical ridge area developed by the ice moving in the last ice age. The area has a main building with accommodation for 22 persons and a ballroom for activities if it gets too cold outside. It also has a watercloset, rare luxury in the Finnish summercottages, but you can use the outside loo if you want to ;).

Bring your own towels and sleeping bags! You can do lots of Finnish "summer things" such as swimming (may be a bit cold), rowing a boat, fishing and singing by the campfire by night and grilling some Finnish sausages (and of course have few Finnish beers!). You can also experience a brilliant night in a tent in the Finnish summer night where sun doesn't go down.

Getting to Kiljava and back

First people can leave around 16:00 and hopefully last car from Helsinki leaves a bit after 20:00. People who are working in Maailma Kylässä or willing to stay there until 20:00. Contact us. We'll also make a common bus trip to there and there is about 5-10 cars who can drive there. Ask more info about the rides from hosts and/or check your email. Couple of us will also ride to Kiljava with bikes, leaving around 16:00 - arriving to Kiljava about 19:00. Contact Arto (ajt), if you want to ride a bike (about 50-60 km).

Bus timetables from Helsinki Kamppi (main bus station) to Kiljava:

Prices of the tickets are around 6,50€, and ask bus driver to leave you from the bus at Kiljava.

The rides to Kiljava will leave from Teboil gas station at Ruskeasuo, about 6 km from Helsinki city center. A map of the location. The easiest way to get there is to take tram number 10 from Helsinki city center and ride until the "Ruskeasuo" stop. The ride takes about 15-20 minutes. The stop is right after the tram turns left from Mannerheimintie (the main road) and the gas station is on the other side of the main road. You can also use the journey planner and put "Koroistentie 10" as the destination.

The cars will leave at 16:30 and 19:00. Please be there on time. And to stay overnight in Kiljava, please bring a sleeping bag and a camping mattress.

Coming back on Sunday: It depends on you. Everyone who are leaving on sunday will get a ride to bus stations and planes in right time. Just keep us informed: we cannot know your schedules, if you don't tell those to us! We can stay in Kiljava for afternoon Sauna and things such like we do in Finnish rainy summer days, but there is regularly busses back to Helsinki and cars will take you also to the center. We won't leave you to the countryside. :)
