A scenery from Helsinki

Tips and info

Take care of your wristband

You'll get lots of benefits just for Hospitality Club -members by showing it when asked. This means: while you want to get food in our common dinners/picnics or at the door of the night club where the main concert is held. And in the end of event -- you will get your deposit back by returning wristband to us, organizers.

Water from the tap

It's fine water. You can drink it straight from the tap. Helsinki tap water is coming from quite near of Tampere so it's not the same one you see in the sea.

If you hurt yourself

Find your way to local Emergency. Please, contact organizers soon as possible and remember General Emergency Number in Finland is 112, to which you can call free from all the phones.

Weather and climate

Prepare yourself well for the event. It may be a sunny and warm weekend, but we've seen snow on the ground even in June. Check out weather forecasts before you leave home. It can also rain heavily, so umbrella / rain coat can be useful.

Public Transportation in Helsinki and regional area

In Helsinki there is nice transportation system with trams, metro/subway, buses, local train and a ferry (to Suomenlinna). Single tickets are expensive, but fortunately Helsinki City Transport offers 1-, 3- and 5-day Tourist Tickets at a moderate cost. New chip card Tourist Tickets are sold only at HKL (Helsinki City Transport) and YTV service points, but old paper tickets can be bought from bus drivers and conductors on local trains. Multi-ticket machines also sell paper Tourist Ticket, and those you can find on some of the subway stations. If you're travelling outside of Helsinki (for example, if your host lives in neighbouring cities or if you want to take a part to the trip to "the probably closest national park which any capital in the world has" Nuuksio) prepare for buying regional Tourist Ticket.

Safety and Comfort

...goes often together. In Helsinki there are some of common rules, which most important for us seems to be restriction of intoxicants. It means that drinking in public area is forbidden and if you get caught, you can even have to pay fine for it (it's not very common, but it can happen). Think wisely, but don't get unhappy. ;)

Remember also that Finland is a place with 187 888 lakes and a long coastline, water is not warm yet. If you swim, remember to take it carefully. If possible take a friend with. If you're drunk, and desire leads you to dip into sea, remember that most of the drowned persons in Finland we're taking some beers before swimming. So, avoid swimming while drunk and if you see a drunken person in the sea, grab him/her back on the shore. We want to send you all alive back to the homes after a great weekend!

On same weekend with Hospitality Club event in Helsinki will be multicultural festival. While there is lots of people on same area (center of Helsinki) take care of your belongings.
